Berry Pie Recipe
3/4 Cup sugar
1/3 Cup flour
5 Cups frozen or fresh berries
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
If you are using frozen berries - set into bowl about a half hour before staring with sugar mixed with them.
Mix above ingredients together. Set aside while you prepare crust
This makes two crusts - one for bottom and one for top
2 Cups Flour
2/3 Cup shortening
6-7 Tablespoons cold water
Use a pastry blender or fork to work in the shortening with the flour until you see pea sized bits throughout. Add water little by little. Then sparingly mix together. Don't overwork your dough. Once in a big ball, split into two. Put flour on surface, then roll out one ball into a circle big enough for pie plate. Put this into pie plate. Add your berry filling. Repeat roll out with second dough ball. Put on top of berry filling and crimp your edge. Use a fork to create steam vents throughout the top of pie. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon on top or use an egg wash.
Bake: 375 degrees for nearly an hour. When the pie filling comes through vents - that's a good indication that your pie is done.
